Solacoat Heat Reflective Non-Slip Waterproof Pavement Coatings:
Heat Reflective and Non-slip Waterproof Pavement Coating is a new technology, being a water-based coating specifically designed to give a Hard Wearing, Heat Reflective Non-Slip & Waterproof Surface, with minimal heat absorption for pedestrian walk areas. It is a ONE-coat application for poured application to Concrete/Concrete Pavers/Bricks/or Pre-Sand Blasted Glazed Tile surfaces, with "ivory Portland cement" added by the applicator. There is the option of an additional clear sealer, which can be used in light vehicle traffic areas, and parking lots if the surface consists of concrete blocks, and/or Pre-Sand Blasted Glazed Tiles, or a Concrete surface, where applying the clear sealer, will assit in cleaning away any oil droppings etc. Solacoat CP Primer will be needed, to fill gaps before coating, and especially if the surface is old, and has absorb moisture. The product can be supplied in any of our current colour finishes. Is an ideal alternative for waterproofing Cement or Concrete roofing. Note that the best heat abatement colour is Cream.
The Solacoat Heat Reflective & Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating system consists of Solacoat Pre-Mixed Pavement Coating then to be added by Applicator 10% weight/ volume (i.e. 1½ kg "ivory Portland cement" per 15 litre pail) for pedestrian traffic and light, low speed vehicle traffic and, where necessary, a Solacoat Pavement Sealer. For high usage, heavy vehicles at low speed the quantity of "ivory Portland cement" is increased to 15% weight/volume i.e. 2.25 kg per 15-litre pail.
If Water-Proofing is not required, then there is no need to add your locally supplied Ivory Portland Cement. If it is, then prior to adding the Ivory Portland Cement into our pre-mix, you should wet the Portland cement. This will make the stirring and mixing much easier.
Is an Ideal alternative for waterproofing Concrete/Cement Roofing.
Excellent adhesion to correctly prepared substrates
One pack convenience. Customer to supply own Ivory Portland cement.
Water based coating system – environmentally friendly
Excellent non slip characteristics in either wet or dry conditions
May be used indoors or outdoors.
Solacoat Heat Reflective Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating is available in any of our colour ranges.
Low heat absorption characteristics therefore lower surrounding temperature environments under the "Heat Island" effect.
Is also an alternative for waterproofing Concrete-Cement roofing.
To the clean, dry prepared surface apply one (1) coat of Solacoat Pavement Coatings mixed with "ivory Portland cement" added at a rate of 1½ kg per 15 litres of Solacoat Heat Reflective Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating, by hopper spray gun having a 4 or 6 mm nozzle or appropriate Industrial medium textured roller. A continuous coating must be applied in a consistent manner at a spreading rate of 2½ - 3m2 per litre. The coated area may be trowelled off, broom finished etc by a second person working in tandem with the applicator. It is recommended, that one applies one coat of our CP Primer to seal the surface, especially if the surface has absorb moisture over its life.
Heavy vehicle areas
To the clean, dry prepared surface apply one (1) coat of Solacoat Pavement Coatings mixed with "ivory Portland cement" added at a rate of 2.25 kg per 15 litres of Solacoat Heat Reflective & Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating by hopper spray gun having a 4 or 6 mm nozzle or appropriate Industrial medium roller. The coated area may be trowelled off, broom finished etc by a second person working in tandem with the applicator.
Solacoat Clear Sealer for Solacoat Pavement coatings must be applied to assist in spoilage removal for black heel marking, tyre marking and potential oil droppings. Regular cleaning of affected areas may be required so as to maintain maximum heat minimisation benefits.
Paver blocks/ cobblestone areas
Where these substrate materials are used and the gaps between has been filled with dry sand, sand mixed with a low quantity of cement or low strength concrete then the complete area needs to have a Solacoat bonding sealer applied prior to application.
NOTE: None of these coatings will upgrade a low performance substrate to a high performance surface suitable for traffic/usage conditions more than what the original substrate was designed for. The substrate and foundation bases must be capable in design and condition to support the perceived usage traffic requirements.
NOTE: Do not apply coatings to hot surfaces. Surfaces above 40°C (or where the back of one’s hand cannot be rested comfortably on the surfaces for at least 20 seconds) are too hot for coating. Cracking or other coating problems may arise if application is made to hot surfaces or where excessive windy conditions exist during application.
Pedestrian/ light vehicle traffic areas
Solacoat Heat Reflective & Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating: approximately 2½ - 3 m2 / litre
Solacoat Clear Sealer: approximately 4 – 7 m2 / litre
Heavy vehicle areas
Solacoat Heat Reflective & Non-Slip & Waterproof Pavement Coating: approximately 0.8 -1.0 m2 / litre
Allowance to be made for surface irregularities and application loses.
Touch dry: Approximately 40 minutes
Working time of mix is around 40 – 60 minutes depending on temperature etc.
Solacoat Pavement coatings may be walked on after 24 hours and subjected to low speed, light vehicular traffic after 3 days under good drying conditions. Heavy vehicles i.e. large trucks, planes etc subject to low speed traffic after 7 days under good drying conditions.
